Overview

Bookit uses a few words in a specific way. Use this page when a screen or a help page mentions a term you are not sure about. Each term links to the page that explains it in full.

What you sell

  • Service: something a customer books and you perform, such as a haircut or a facial, with a price and a duration.
  • Package: a bundle a customer pays for upfront and uses over several visits, such as 10 haircuts.
  • Class: a group activity you sell, with a name, price, duration and number of seats. It has no date until you schedule it.
  • Recurring class: the schedule that says when and where a class runs, for example every Tuesday at 7pm.
  • Class session: one dated occurrence of a class that customers book a seat in.

What customers hold

  • Credit: a prepaid balance a customer buys and then spends on services and products on later visits.
  • Voucher: a discount or credit you give a customer to use on a later visit, such as an RM 30 birthday voucher.
  • Reward points: points customers earn when they pay and spend later as money off or on a specific item.
  • Owe balance: the amount a customer still owes after paying only part of a bill. It shows as a negative Balance on their profile.
  • Deposit: money a customer pays before their appointment, which Bookit takes off the bill at checkout.

Your business and team

  • Branch: one location of your business, with its own calendar, opening hours and team.
  • Team member: a person who works for you, with or without their own Bookit login.
  • Commission pattern: a set of rules for how much each team member earns for the services they perform.
  • Miniprogram: your online booking site, where customers book appointments with you themselves.
  • Bookit BB: the AI assistant inside Bookit. Ask it questions or request changes in plain words.

FAQs

What is the difference between a booking and an appointment?

A booking is either an appointment or a seat in a class session. An appointment is a one-to-one booking for a service.

What is the difference between a package and a subscription?

A package is something your customers buy from you. Your subscription is the Bookit plan you pay for. See Plans and billing.

Is a credit the same as an owe balance?

No. A credit is money the customer has paid you in advance. An owe balance is money the customer still owes you.
