Shifts
Clock in and out
Clock in and out of a shift from your phone, the counter kiosk or a QR code, and fix it when Bookit will not let you clock in.
Overview
You clock in when you start a shift and clock out when you finish, so your hours are recorded against the shift that was planned for you. Go to Shifts → Overview and select Clock in. You can also clock in from your dashboard or from the shift itself. Depending on how your branch is set up, you may need to scan a QR code at the counter or be close enough to the branch.
Clock in
In this example, Aina is starting her shift at your branch.
- Go to Shifts → Overview.
- Select Clock in.
- Check the Confirm clock-in screen. It tells you which rule your branch uses.
- Finish the step for your branch's rule:
- QR kiosk: select Scan QR code and point your camera at the code on the branch device.
- GPS geofence: Bookit finds your location and checks you are close enough to the branch.
- Clock in anywhere: there is nothing else to do.
Clock out
- Go to Shifts → Overview.
- Select Clock out.
You are clocked out straight away, with no second step. The time recorded is the moment you select Clock out.
Set up a kiosk device at the counter
Use a shared phone or tablet at the counter so team members can clock in by scanning the code shown on it.
- Under Team, mark the account that will be signed in on the shared device as a Kiosk account.
- On the shared device, sign in with that account.
- Go to Shifts → Overview and select Attendance kiosk.
The Attendance kiosk option only appears on a device signed in with a Kiosk account. Team members then clock in from their own phone using Scan QR code.
Clock in a team member who forgot their phone
If you have full access to shifts, you can clock in for someone else.
- Open Aina's shift.
- Select Clock in for Aina.
The entry is recorded against Aina, not against you.
FAQs
Why can't I clock in?
On the clock-in screen, select the option that explains why you can't clock in. It names the reason. The usual ones are:
- Your branch has attendance set to Disabled.
- Your branch uses GPS geofence and you are outside the allowed distance.
- The QR code you scanned has already been used or has expired. Scan the code on the branch device again.
- Your branch blocks clock-ins when no shift is scheduled, and nothing is rostered for you right now.
- You still have an earlier entry open. See the next question.
I forgot to clock out yesterday and now I can't clock in
You cannot clock in while an earlier entry is still open, at any branch. Select Clock out to close the old entry first, then clock in. Your clock-out is recorded as now, so ask whoever manages the roster to correct the old entry under Shifts → Time log.
Will Bookit remind me about my shift or to clock out?
No. Bookit does not remind you about upcoming shifts or chase you if you forget to clock out. Managers can watch Open clock-ins on Shifts → Overview to see who is still clocked in.
I have no shift right now but I am working
If your branch allows it, clock in anyway. Your hours are recorded but are not linked to a planned shift. If your branch does not allow it, ask whoever manages the roster to add the shift, then clock in.
I clocked in at the wrong time
Ask whoever manages the roster to correct it under Shifts → Time log.
Can I clock in at two branches?
No. You can only have one open entry at a time. Clock out at the first branch before you clock in at the next.
