Online payments

Choose whether customers pay at your store, pay a deposit or pay in full when they book online, and where that money goes.

Overview

Use this page to decide how customers pay when they book with you online: nothing until their visit, a deposit to secure the booking, or the full amount upfront. You also choose where online payments go, either through the Bookit gateway or your own payment instructions. Find it under settings → Website → payment.

Choose how customers pay when booking online

  1. Go to settings → Website → payment.
  2. In Payment methods, tick each option you want to offer:
    • Pay at store: the customer pays nothing online and settles everything during their visit.
    • Online deposit: the customer pays part of the amount to secure the booking.
    • Online full upfront payment: the customer pays the full amount when booking.
  3. Fill in the settings for each online option you ticked (see the sections below).
  4. Select Save.

If you tick more than one option, customers choose between them when they book.

Ask for a deposit

  1. In Payment methods, tick Online deposit.
  2. Choose Percentage to charge a share of the booking, or Fixed to charge the same amount every time.
  3. Enter the deposit amount.
  4. Choose your Online payment channel (see below).
  5. Select Save.

Take full payment upfront

  1. In Payment methods, tick Online full upfront payment.
  2. To reward customers who pay in full, enter an Upfront payment discount percentage. This is optional.
  3. To add tax to online payments, enter an Online tax percentage. This is optional.
  4. To add an extra charge, select Add under Additional charges, then enter a name and amount. Repeat for each charge.
  5. Choose your Online payment channel (see below).
  6. Select Save.

Additional charges can be a fixed amount or a percentage of the service total. You can add up to 20.

Choose where online payments go

Any online option needs a payment channel.

  1. Under Online payment channel, choose Bookit to use the built-in gateway, or choose custom payment instructions.
  2. If you chose custom instructions, upload an image of your payment instructions and add the text details customers need.
  3. Select Save.

With Bookit, customers pay by eWallet, FPX or card. Bookit holds the money and transfers it to your bank account weekly.

How it's calculated

A percentage deposit is worked out from the booking amount and rounded to the nearest whole ringgit. The deposit is never less than RM 2.

Example: you set Online deposit to Percentage, 15%. Aisyah books an RM 85 facial online.

  • 15% of RM 85 = RM 12.75
  • Rounded to the nearest whole ringgit, Aisyah pays a deposit of RM 13.
  • She pays the remaining RM 72 at her visit.

If a deposit ever works out below RM 2, the customer pays RM 2.

Additional charges are added to the total booking amount.

To set what happens when a customer cancels or does not show up, see Cancellation and no-show policy.

FAQs

Can customers choose between a deposit and paying in full?

Yes. Tick both Online deposit and Online full upfront payment, and customers see both choices when they book.

What happens if I don't turn on any online payment?

Customers only see Pay at store and pay nothing when they book online.

How do customers pay through the Bookit gateway?

By eWallet, FPX or card.

When do I receive the money?

With the Bookit channel, Bookit holds the payments and transfers them to your bank account weekly.

Why was Aisyah's deposit RM 13 and not RM 12.75?

Deposits are rounded to the nearest whole ringgit, so 15% of RM 85 (RM 12.75) becomes RM 13.

Why can't I save my payment settings?

Check for error messages on the form. Required fields can't be empty, percentages can't be more than 100%, and you can't have more than 20 additional charges.
