Discounts
Set up percentage or fixed-amount discounts that reduce the total at checkout for services and products.
Overview
Use discounts when you want to offer special pricing, for example to attract new customers or reward loyal ones. A discount can be a percentage or a fixed amount, and it reduces the total at checkout when customers book services or buy products. You set up discounts in Catalogues → Discounts.
Create a discount
- Go to Catalogues → Discounts.
- Click Create discount in the top right corner.
- Enter a Name. This is what customers see, for example 'New Customer Special'.
- Optionally, add a Description with details about when to use this discount.
- Optionally, enter a Reference as your own tracking code.
- Set whether the discount is a percentage or a fixed amount, and add any conditions in the form.
- Under Available in branches, choose which branches can use this discount.
- Add Tags to group the discount with similar ones, such as 'seasonal' or 'new-customer'.
- Pick a colour so the discount is easy to spot in lists.
- Save the discount.
If you leave Reference blank, Bookit gives the discount its own unique reference number.
Find a discount
The discounts list shows every discount with its status (active or inactive). To narrow the list:
- Filter by status to see only active or inactive discounts.
- Filter by Tags to see one group, such as 'seasonal'.
- Search by name to find a specific discount, such as 'New Customer Special'.
Copy an existing discount
- In Catalogues → Discounts, select the discount you want to copy.
- Choose Duplicate from the actions menu.
The copy keeps the original's settings, so you only need to change what is different.
Delete discounts
- In Catalogues → Discounts, select the discounts you want to remove.
- Choose Delete from the actions menu.
Download your discount list
In Catalogues → Discounts, use Download selected to export the discounts you have selected, or Download all to export your complete list.
FAQs
How do I keep lots of discounts organised?
Use Tags to group related discounts, such as 'seasonal', 'new-customer' or 'loyalty', and give each group its own colour so you can tell them apart at a glance.
Can I see which discounts are used the most?
Not from the discounts list. It shows all the discounts you have created, but to see how often each one is used, check your sales reports.
Why can't a branch use my discount?
A discount only works in the branches you choose under Available in branches. Open the discount and check that the branch is selected.
Do I have to fill in a reference?
No. If you leave Reference blank, Bookit gives the discount a unique reference number for you.
Can I get a deleted discount back?
No. Deleting removes the discount permanently, so you would need to create it again.
