Buy now, use later

Sell a service or product today and keep it on the customer's profile so they can redeem it on a later visit.

Overview

Use Buy now, use later when a customer pays for a service or product today but wants to use it on a later visit. They pay the full price now, and the units go onto their profile as redeemable items, ready to redeem at checkout like a package session. It is useful for one-off prepaid items when you have not set up a package for them.

Sell an item for the customer to use later

In this example, Siti pays for 5 hair wash treatments at RM 30.00 each today and will use them over her next visits.

  1. At checkout, choose the customer (Siti). The option only works with a customer selected.
  2. Add the item to the cart and set the quantity to 5.
  3. Tap the item in the cart to open its details.
  4. Open the More tab and tick Buy now, use later.
  5. Tap Update. The cart line now shows "Buy now, use later" under the item name.
  6. Tap Continue, choose the Payment method and tap Pay full RM 150.00.

The 5 treatments are added to Siti's redeemable items in a package called Misc. Items saved this way have no expiry date.

Redeem a saved item on a later visit

  1. At checkout, choose the customer and tap their name to open Customer details.
  2. Under Redeemable package items, find the Misc package and tap the item you want to redeem. It goes into the cart at RM 0.00, marked "Redeeming this package item".
  3. Tap Continue.
  4. Under Payment method, choose Redemption.
  5. Tap Pay full RM 0.00.

To see what a customer still has left, open their profile and check their redeemable items. For more on redeeming, see Redeemable packages.

How it's calculated

The customer pays the item's normal price on the day they buy it. Each later redemption is RM 0.00 and takes one unit off what they have left.

Step Paid Units left in Misc
Siti buys hair wash × 5 at RM 30.00 with Buy now, use later 5 × RM 30.00 = RM 150.00 5
Siti redeems 1 hair wash RM 0.00 5 − 1 = 4
Siti buys 2 more the same way 2 × RM 30.00 = RM 60.00 4 + 2 = 6

Buying more of the same item adds to the same line in Misc, so the customer sees one running total.

FAQs

Why is Buy now, use later greyed out?

No customer is selected on the sale, and Bookit shows "No customer selected" under the option. The units have to land on someone's profile, so choose the customer first.

Why don't I see the More tab?

The More tab is not shown for packages, because a package is already used later by design. It also only appears when packages and customer credit are turned on for your business.

Is this the same as Save for later under More options?

No. More options → Save for later keeps an unpaid cart in Drafts so you can finish taking payment later. Buy now, use later is a paid sale where the customer uses the item later.

Do saved items expire?

No. Items in Misc have no expiry date.

What happens if I void the sale?

Voiding the payment takes the saved units back off the customer's profile. Restoring the payment puts them back. See Void and restore a payment.

Should I use a package instead?

If you sell the same bundle often, for example 10 sessions at a set price, create it as a package in your catalogue. It gets its own name, price and expiry rules. See Packages.
