Products and stock

Add retail products to sell alongside services, keep stock counts up to date and check stock levels and value.

Overview

Use products when you sell retail items like hair products, skincare, supplements or digital goods. Customers can buy them during an appointment or on their own. You set each product's price and, if you want, track how many you have in stock. Products live in Catalogues → Products. Stock levels and value are in reports → Products.

  1. Go to Catalogues → Products.
  2. Tap Create new product.
  3. Enter the Name.
  4. If you use your own product codes, enter a Reference.
  5. Add a Description.
  6. Enter the price.
  7. If you track stock, enter the Stock count. Leave it blank for items with no stock limit, such as digital products.
  8. Choose a Category and Brand to group similar items.
  9. Add Tags so the product is easier to find and filter.
  10. Set status to active when the product is ready to sell.

All details are copied to the new product.

  2. Choose a date from the Snapshot dropdown.
  3. Check the summary cards for total products, stock counts, cost balance and price balance.
  4. Switch between the Table and Line tabs to see the figures as a list or a chart.
  5. In the table, check each product's stock count, SKU, category, brand, pricing and in and out quantities.
  6. Tap a product name to open its full details.

To keep a copy, tap Download PDF for a formatted report. To work on the figures in a spreadsheet, open the dropdown menu and select Download CSV.

FAQs

What's the difference between cost balance and price balance?

Cost balance is the total amount you paid for the stock you hold. Price balance is the total retail value of that stock at your current selling prices.

What do the In and Out columns mean?

In is the quantity currently in stock. Out is the quantity sold or removed from stock.

Why can't I see any snapshots?

If you see "No selected snapshots", no snapshot has been created yet, or stock tracking may not be turned on for your business. Bookit creates snapshots automatically. You cannot create them yourself.

How often are snapshots created?

Usually once a month. Each snapshot shows your stock at that point in time.

Can I filter the stock report by category or brand?

No. The table shows every product in the snapshot. To filter, tap Download CSV and filter in your spreadsheet app.

Do I have to fill in Stock count?

Only if you want to track stock. Leave it blank for digital products or anything with no stock limit.

Is the Reference required?

No. It is your own product code for tracking items. Only Name and price are required.

What's Description 2 for?

It is a second text field. Use it however suits your business, for example a main description in one and ingredients or technical details in the other.
