Counter-tested gear
The hardware we'd put on your counter.
Every device here works out of the box with bookit. We've grouped them by what they do — pick what fits your shop and skip the rest. Links open Shopee in a new tab.
Some links are Shopee affiliate links — if you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only recommend gear we'd happily use ourselves.
Tablets (only if you need one)
bookit runs on any phone or laptop you already own. If you want a dedicated screen at the counter, we'd reach for an iPad first — with the Xiaomi Pad as the Android alternative.
Already have an iPhone, Android phone, or laptop? Skip this — bookit runs on all of them. Only buy a tablet if you want a bigger screen at a fixed counter, or want to leave a dedicated device on-site.
iPad (base model, latest gen)
Our default recommendation. Smooth, long-lasting, and the bookit web app feels native in Safari. Get the cheapest current-gen iPad with Wi-Fi only — you don't need cellular or extra storage.
Xiaomi Pad
Our Android pick. Fast, well-built, and similar price to the base iPad. Choose this if you (or your team) prefer Android — the bookit web app runs equally well in Chrome.
Thermal receipt printers
Print receipts in seconds. Pair via Bluetooth for mobile checkout, or USB for a fixed counter setup.
58mm Bluetooth thermal printer (entry-level)
Pocket-sized and battery-powered. Perfect for mobile stylists, pop-ups, and home-based merchants who only need basic receipts. Easy starter if you're not sure yet.
80mm USB/Bluetooth thermal printer (counter-grade)
The reliable counter workhorse. Auto-cut, faster print, and triggers the cash drawer. Worth the spend if you're printing every booking — these last for years.
Label printer (for product tags)
A small Bluetooth printer that prints product labels with a barcode. Pairs with bookit's "Print label" action on the product page — one tap from the product form.
Cash drawers
Triggered by your receipt printer at checkout. Standard RJ11 cable — plugs straight into most thermal printers.
QR scanner (for customer payments)
A small countertop scanner that reads QR codes off your customer's phone — Touch 'n Go, GrabPay, DuitNow, ShopeePay. Skip this if you only accept card or cash.
